Primary School Overview
The Vale Verde Primary School is one of Europe's first bilingual schools. Started initially as a pilot scheme following the submission of a thesis on the subject by the Director, the school quickly proved to be a success. Weekly assemblies demonstrate the cultural, linguistic and academic developments of the student body including the versatility that enables broadened language use both in and out of the classroom. The level of Portuguese tuition, primarily focused on the humanities, arts and sports provide progressive building blocks for non-native speakers, but also ensures that by the end of the Primary Years Programme, the student should be fully prepared for Portuguese tuition. VVIS offers the option of continuing a British curriculum with international adaptions throughout the Secondary years leading to the University of Cambridge IGCSE examinations in Year 11 (Age 16) and the Advanced Level examinations (Age 18) suitable for university entry. The school has a proven and consistent academic track record. Please read our Admissions Page for more information.
